THE GENERAL’S WIFE
Episode 14
Teni sat in the backseat of Jide’s car, her hands trembling as she clutched the blanket he had given her.
She was free.
But why did she still feel like she was trapped?
Her heart pounded as she stared out the window, the city lights blurring into streaks of gold and white.
Beside her, Jide spoke softly into his phone. “Yes, sir. We have her… No, Kola didn’t resist, but he’s not himself. We need to keep an eye on him… Yes. Understood.”
Teni barely heard his words.
Her mind was still inside that house.
Still hearing Kola’s voice.
Still feeling his grip on her wrist.
“Are you okay?” Jide’s voice pulled her back to reality.
Teni forced a nod. “I… I don’t know.”
Jide’s jaw tightened. “You’re safe now. That’s what matters.”
Safe.
The word felt foreign.
Teni swallowed hard. “What will happen to him?”
Jide sighed, adjusting his grip on the steering wheel. “Kola is a respected general, Teni. The military won’t act unless he becomes a direct threat to national security.”
Teni turned to him in shock. “So he won’t be punished?”
Jide exhaled. “The truth is… this is complicated. The army protects its own. But don’t worry. I’ll make sure he doesn’t come near you again.”
Teni’s fingers dug into the blanket.
Kola had kidnapped her. Trapped her. Controlled her.
And yet, he would walk free?
Her chest tightened.
This wasn’t over.
Not yet.
When Jide pulled up in front of Daniel’s apartment, Daniel was already waiting outside.
The moment Teni stepped out of the car, Daniel rushed forward, pulling her into a tight embrace.
“Teni!” His voice was filled with emotion. “I thought I lost you.”
Teni clung to him, her body shaking. “I thought I lost myself.”
Daniel pulled back, his eyes scanning her face. “Did he hurt you?”
Teni shook her head. “Not physically. But… I was so scared, Daniel. I didn’t think I’d make it out.”
Daniel cupped her face gently. “You’re safe now. I promise.”
Teni’s eyes filled with tears.
She wanted to believe him.
But deep down, she knew—
Kola wasn’t the type of man to let go easily.
And the battle wasn’t over yet.
Back at the house, Kola stood in the wreckage of the master bedroom, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white.
She had escaped.
Because of Jide.
Because of Daniel.
Because of them.
Kola’s chest heaved as he turned to face the broken window.
For the first time in his life, he felt powerless.
But that wouldn’t last.
Slowly, a cold smile crept onto his face.
Teni thought she was safe?
She thought she could just walk away?
No.
This wasn’t over.
Not even close.
Kola reached for his phone and dialed a number.
When the line connected, he spoke calmly.
“I need you to find someone for me.”
A pause.
Then”Her name is Teniola.”
THE GENERAL’S WIFE
Episode 15
Teni tried to settle into life at Daniel’s apartment, but no matter how safe she felt in his arms, an invisible weight pressed on her chest.
Kola was still out there.
And she knew him too well to believe he would just let her go.
Days passed, but the fear never left her.
Every time the phone rang, she flinched.
Every time a car drove past the apartment, she peeked through the window, expecting to see his face.
Daniel noticed her unease.
“You don’t have to keep looking over your shoulder,” he said one evening, brushing his fingers against hers.
Teni forced a small smile. “I know. But I just… I don’t feel safe.”
Daniel’s jaw tightened. “Jide assured me Kola wouldn’t do anything reckless.”
Teni exhaled. “Reckless? Maybe not. But Kola is a man who plans. He won’t come at me the obvious way. He’ll make sure I never see it coming.”
Daniel took her hands. “Then we won’t wait for him to make the first move. We’ll prepare.”
Teni’s brows furrowed. “Prepare how?”
A determined look crossed Daniel’s face. “By making sure Kola never has power over you again.”
Meanwhile, Kola sat in his private study, staring at the intelligence reports on his desk.
His men had tracked Teni to Daniel’s apartment.
She was under protection.
But that didn’t matter.
Kola smirked, tapping his fingers against the wooden desk.
He wasn’t a fool.
If brute force couldn’t get her back, then something else would.
Something she wouldn’t see coming.
He reached for his phone and dialed a number.
“Chief Ayodele,” he said smoothly when the call connected. “It’s been a long time.”
The deep voice on the other end chuckled. “General Kola. To what do I owe the pleasure?”
Kola’s smirk deepened.
“I have a proposal for you. And trust me… it’s one you’ll be very interested in.”
Later that night, Teni lay awake, staring at the ceiling.
She couldn’t sleep.
Daniel had been wonderful—patient, understanding, always by her side.
But no matter how much she tried to convince herself she was free, she knew Kola wouldn’t stop.
And she was right.
At exactly 2:15 AM, Daniel’s phone rang.
Teni’s stomach twisted.
Daniel groggily answered. “Hello?”
Then he sat up, suddenly alert. “What?!”
Teni’s heart pounded. “What is it?”
Daniel rubbed his forehead, his expression grave. “That was Jide. He just found out something… something bad.”
Teni swallowed. “Tell me.”
Daniel hesitated, then took her hand.
“Kola is planning to take legal action against you.”
Teni’s breath hitched. “Legal action? For what?”
Daniel’s expression darkened.
“He’s accusing you of infidelity and claiming you had your baby out of wedlock. He’s planning to take full custody of the child.”
Teni’s world tilted.
Her chest tightened.
“No,” she whispered. “He can’t… He can’t do that!”
Daniel pulled her into his arms. “Teni, listen to me. We won’t let him. But you need to be strong.”
Teni’s hands trembled.
Kola wasn’t coming for her physically.
He was coming for the one thing she loved the most.
Her child.
And she had no idea how to stop him.
