LOVE IN ROYAL DISGUISE
Episode 6
By morning, the entire village of Umuoma was buzzing with the shocking revelation—Uchenna, the humble trader whom many had mocked and rejected, was in fact a prince!
Women whispered among themselves, some regretting how they had turned him away. Ego, in particular, was filled with shame.
“That poor man I laughed at… a prince?” she muttered, pacing in her compound. “If only I had known…”
Meanwhile, Chisom’s father, Chief Okafor, sat in his compound, fuming.
“A prince?” he repeated when his friend, Chief Nwosu, told him the news.
“Yes, my friend! Your daughter has won the heart of a true royal!” Chief Nwosu chuckled. “You should be proud.”
But Chief Okafor was not pleased. He had disowned Chisom for rejecting Emeka, only to learn that she had chosen someone far greater. The humiliation burned inside him.
“She defied me,” he muttered. “I cannot go back on my words now.”
A few days later, Uchenna took Chisom to the great kingdom of Nri. She had never seen anything so magnificent. The palace gates were carved with ancient symbols, and the grand hall shimmered with gold and fine fabrics.
The moment they arrived, the royal guards bowed. “Welcome back, my prince.”
Chisom gasped as she finally understood the true extent of Uchenna’s status.
Inside the palace, King Eze, a regal man with wise eyes, sat on his throne, watching as his son and Chisom approached.
“Father,” Uchenna said, bowing. “I have returned.”
King Eze nodded. “And I see you have found a woman worthy of your heart.”
Chisom quickly knelt. “My king, I am honored to be here.”
King Eze studied her carefully. “Rise, my child. My son has chosen wisely. You have proven that love and character are greater than wealth.”
Chisom felt tears of gratitude well up in her eyes.
Back in Umuoma, people who once mocked Uchenna now spoke of him with admiration.
“Did you hear? Prince Uchenna is arranging a royal ceremony for Chisom,” one woman said.
“If I had known, I would have married him!” another sighed.
Even Emeka, the arrogant suitor Chisom had rejected, was bitter.
“She chose that trader over me, and now she will be a queen?” he grumbled.
But no one regretted it more than Chief Okafor. Despite his anger, deep down, he missed his daughter.
Days passed, and the pain of losing her grew heavier. Finally, after much thought, he made a decision.
“I must go to Nri,” he told his wife. “I must seek my daughter’s forgiveness.”
When Chief Okafor arrived at the palace, he was filled with awe. The guards led him to the royal courtyard, where he saw Chisom standing beside Uchenna, dressed in royal attire.
Tears filled his eyes as he fell to his knees. “My daughter, please forgive me.”
Chisom gasped. “Papa?”
“I was blinded by pride and greed,” Chief Okafor admitted. “I only wanted what I thought was best for you, but I see now that I was wrong.”
Chisom’s eyes softened. “Papa, all I ever wanted was to follow my heart.”
Uchenna stepped forward. “Chief Okafor, your daughter has shown wisdom beyond her years. She saw the value in people, not wealth. And because of that, she will be my queen.”
Chief Okafor bowed his head. “I am proud of you, my daughter.”
Tears streamed down Chisom’s cheeks as she embraced her father. The pain of the past dissolved, replaced by love and understanding.
Weeks later, the kingdom of Nri was alive with celebration. The royal wedding of Prince Uchenna and Chisom was the grandest event in years.
People from far and wide gathered to witness the union. Even villagers from Umuoma came, their hearts filled with admiration and regret.
Ego watched as Chisom walked down the aisle in a breathtaking red and gold attire. “That could have been me,” she whispered sadly.
But Chisom had no room for regrets. She had found not just love, but her destiny.
As Uchenna took her hand, he whispered, “Are you ready to be my queen?”
Chisom smiled. “I was always ready for you.”
And as they were crowned, the people cheered, knowing they were witnessing the beginning of a great and wise reign.
