BATTLE FOR HIS HEART
EPISODE 13
Kunle drove home feeling emotionally drained. He had never spoken to his mother like that before, but he knew it was necessary.
When he walked into the house, Amara was waiting for him, her expression tense. “How did it go?”
Kunle sighed and sat beside her. “I told her she’s no longer welcome in our home until she can respect you.”
Amara’s eyes widened. “You did that?”
Kunle nodded. “Yes. Amara, I love my mother, but I will not allow her to keep hurting you.”
Amara’s eyes filled with tears. “Kunle… Do you know how much that means to me?”
Kunle wiped a tear from her cheek. “I should have stood up for you sooner. I’m sorry for everything you’ve been through.”
Amara sniffled and hugged him tightly. “Thank you for choosing me.”
Kunle held her close. “Always.”
The following days were peaceful, but there was a lingering sadness in the air. Kunle missed his mother, despite everything she had done.
One evening, Amara found him sitting quietly on the balcony, lost in thought. She sat beside him. “You miss her, don’t you?”
Kunle sighed. “She raised me, Amara. No matter what, she is still my mother.”
Amara took his hand. “I understand. But she needs to realize that her actions have consequences.”
Kunle nodded. “I just hope she realizes before it’s too late.”
Meanwhile, at Mama Kunle’s house, she sat alone in her living room, staring at the wall. She couldn’t believe Kunle had actually cut her off.
Her sister, Auntie Bose, visited that evening. “Sister, what have you done?”
Mama Kunle frowned. “What do you mean?”
Auntie Bose sighed. “Kunle has always loved and respected you. But you pushed him too far.”
Mama Kunle’s eyes flashed with pain. “I was only trying to help!”
Auntie Bose shook her head. “You were trying to control him. And now you have lost him.”
Mama Kunle’s hands trembled. “What do I do now?”
Auntie Bose placed a hand on her shoulder. “You have to make things right before it’s too late.”
Mama Kunle swallowed hard. She had never apologized to anyone before. But was she willing to lose her son forever?

BATTLE FOR HIS HEART
EPISODE 14
Mama Kunle couldn’t sleep that night. She tossed and turned, replaying Auntie Bose’s words in her head.
“You have to make things right before it’s too late.”
But how could she? She had done so much damage. Would Kunle and Amara even forgive her?
The next morning, she sat staring at her phone for a long time. Finally, she took a deep breath and dialed Kunle’s number.
At home, Kunle and Amara were having breakfast when his phone rang. He saw his mother’s name on the screen and hesitated before picking up.
“Mama.”
“Kunle… my son,” Mama Kunle’s voice was quiet. “Can we talk?”
Kunle glanced at Amara, who watched him carefully. He took a deep breath. “What do you want to talk about?”
Mama Kunle was silent for a moment. “I know I have hurt you. Both of you. And… I want to fix things.”
Kunle’s heart softened slightly. “Mama, do you really mean that?”
“Yes,” she whispered. “Can I come over?”
Kunle looked at Amara again, silently asking her what she thought.
Amara hesitated but then nodded. “Let her come.”
Kunle sighed and spoke into the phone. “Okay, Mama. We’ll be expecting you.”
A few hours later, Mama Kunle arrived. She looked nervous as she stepped into the house, her eyes darting to Amara, who remained calm but watchful.
Kunle gestured for her to sit. “Mama, we’re listening.”
Mama Kunle wrung her hands. “Kunle, my son, I have been wrong. I let my fears control me. I was so afraid of losing you that I pushed too hard.”
Amara remained silent, studying her.
Mama Kunle turned to her. “Amara, I have treated you unfairly. You did nothing to deserve the way I behaved. I was blinded by my own selfishness.”
Tears filled Amara’s eyes, but she remained composed. “You hurt me deeply, Mama. You made me feel like I would never be good enough for Kunle.”
Mama Kunle’s lips trembled. “I know. And I am sorry.”
Kunle watched his mother, seeing sincerity in her eyes. “Mama, do you really mean this? Or are you just saying it because you have no choice?”
Mama Kunle wiped her eyes. “I mean it, Kunle. I don’t want to lose my son. And I don’t want to be the reason your marriage suffers.”
A heavy silence filled the room.
Then Amara took a deep breath and said, “Mama, I can forgive you. But you have to prove that you have changed.”
Mama Kunle nodded eagerly. “I will. I just want my family back.”
Kunle reached for Amara’s hand, then held his mother’s. “Then let’s start over.”
For the first time in a long while, peace began to return to their home.
